Kitty's Tearoom - Southport

The Woof Review

Even British summer brings sunshine and heat sometimes, and walking with our pups can be challenging if they are prone to overheating. Finding places to stop and rest in the shade for re-hydration can help us plan a great day out with our pooches!

This weekend we wanted to go for a long walk but needed somewhere to recharge in the heat. Kitty's Tea Rooms in Formby is within walking distance of Formby beach and the National Trust squirrel sanctuary. Situated right beside Freshfield train station, it's a small cafe that allows dogs inside or on the outside seating that offers brunch, afternoon tea, and homemade cakes.

With some vegetarian options, and delicious hot and cold drink choices, it was a lovely stop at the end of our hot walk. We chose a goats cheese and caramelised onion chutney panini, which was charmingly served on kitch dinnerware with a delicious chilled latte.

There is a nice selection of homemade cakes including full chocolate gateau and sponge cakes. I would love it if they introduced some puppachinos!

Prices are affordable and the outside area is surrounded by a cute blue picket fence, which isn't dog proof but provides another barrier between the seating and the road which runs sadly adjacent. I would recommend dogs are kept secure because of this.

Kitty's Tea Rooms is a refreshing stop with delicious cakes and lunch choices, if you are planning a walk around Formby (which you should definitely do at this time of year!) this is great place to stop for a snack or drink with your four-legged friends.
